Artist Statement
Regardless of subject, what interests me are the people and things that are present around me as they are. Most of my work is not staged, rather captured. The small details of life which make up the whole are what interests me. Capturing these small details reveal things often over looked or taken for granted. My only desire is that my images may make the viewer stop, consider and be thoughtful to the world around them in all its variety and, conversely, in all of its similarity. I truly take great joy in observing and in expressing my view of the world as I see it through the lens.
Bio
Ever since I took my first photography class, I’ve been interested in photographing any subject, though my aesthetic, technical knowledge, and experience has constantly improved. My first projects dealt almost exclusively with portraiture in black and white analog photography with the people closest to me providing the inspiration.
Later, I delved into experimental black and white photography, color analog photography, digital, and large format photography using them as new mediums, but ultimately with a similar vision of documenting the world as I see it.
